Vase - Ceramic - ornamental pitcher

Impressive and scenographic ornamental collectible jug produced in Capodimonte style (Italy), dating from the mid-20th century. The piece is richly endowed with plastic and sculptural details: the twisted handle culminates in the grotesque head of a faun/satyr peering over the inner rim, while the spout encloses the relief figure of a winged mermaid. The central body presents reserves with mythological scenes of putti in Arcadian landscapes, alternating with reliefs of cherubs, mascarons, and rich festoons of fruits and flowers. The entire surface is expertly finished with vivid polychrome enamels and profuse gilding.
