Supported by Team Italia,[3] he won the first edition of the European Velocità Championship of the 500 class in 1981, finishing in first place in two of the three races on the calendar, earning 42 points.[4] With the attainment of the European title, he was awarded by CONI the Silver Medal for athletic merit.[5]

Precisely following the continental title victory, in the following season and up to 1986 he raced in several World Championship events, all in the 500 class, without however achieving notable results; he only manages to equal his best finish in a world championship race, finishing seventh at the 1984 San Marino GP.

In the same period in which he raced in the World Championship, Becheroni continued to take part also in the Italian Championship, which he won again in 1983, this time in the 500 class.

From 1987 he limits his participation to national-level races, taking part in some events as a wildcard in the World Championship (last appearance at the Nations Grand Prix 1988, where however he fails to qualify) and in the European Championship (thirtieth in 1989, last race run at Misano).[6]
