Italy, 1996 – “Fortuna” by Albrecht Dürer – 100 g commemorative ingot plate – 925 Silver
Italian commemorative ingot/plaquette in 925 silver, weight 100 grams, dated July 1996, dedicated to the famous engraving “Fortuna” by Albrecht Dürer.
The front features a refined raised reproduction of Albrecht Dürer's famous composition (1471–1528) generally known as Nemesis or Fortuna Major. The winged allegorical figure is depicted nude, balanced atop a sphere, while holding in her hands her own symbolic attributes. At the bottom there is an intricate landscape rendered in relief.
At the top is the inscription “LA FORTUNA,” while in the lower band the name “DÜRER” appears.
The reverse carries in the upper part the BAYER logo and the wording:
“LS-P Garbagnate”
In the center is engraved the phrase:
“SAFETY AT WORK
AND EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY
AND NOT ONLY
FORTUNA”
followed by the date:
“July 1996”
In the lower part there are several small hallmarks, among which the clearly legible title “925” indicating sterling silver.
