Magnificent female portrait by the French painter Raymond Tellier (1897–1985), signed in the upper left and dated in the upper right.
The work depicts an elegant half-length portrait of a woman, with a serene expression and gaze directed at the viewer. Of particular note is the treatment of light on the face, as well as the loose, mottled brushwork characteristic of Tellier's painting.
The composition features an attractive color range, with predominance of reddish and ochre tones in the clothing and bluish and gray tones in the background.
Raymond Tellier was a French painter known especially for his portraits, figures, landscapes, and scenes of exotic character. Trained at the Fine Arts schools of Douai and Lille, he developed a long artistic career and also undertook numerous travels in Africa. His work is represented in collections and has regularly appeared on the international auction market.
The work is signed and dated, which adds special interest for collectors of 20th-century French painting.
