Natura morta con fiori e rovine - XL format, an oil painting dating to 1950–1960 by an Italian School artist, unsigned, on canvas in a wooden frame, 84 cm by 183 cm, depicting a still life with flowers and ruins.
Description from the seller
Landscape with a stone bridge and floral composition
Period: 19th century / early 20th century, to be verified
Style: figurative painting in a classical and Romantic taste, with elements of floral still life.
The composition is ideally divided into two main elements: on the left a landscape is depicted, characterized by a multi-arched stone bridge, architecture and vegetation, immersed in a suggestive and twilight atmosphere. On the right emerges a rich arrangement of multicolored flowers, gathered inside a large wicker basket.
The palette is dominated by deep tones of brown, green and ochre, with accents of red, white and pink in the flowers. The strong contrast between the dark background and the floral composition gives the work a theatrical and decorative character.
The work belongs to the tradition of European figurative painting with a classical taste, combining elements of picturesque/romantic landscape with those of floral still life.
The author is not identified and there are no signatures, labels or provenance documents visible on the back.
The painting has been kept for over 50 years in the same private family collection.
The work is presented in a wooden frame/mount and is painted on canvas.
