Charles Holmes (1888-1954) — Pupil of French Impressionist master Adolphe Valette and contemporary of L.S. Lowry at the Manchester School of Art. (Works held in Trafford Council public collection).

Fine oil on doubled heavy artist board .
Signed lower right by the artist : C. Holmes
A superb and vibrant early 20th-century post-impressionist oil painting by the British artist Charles Holmes .
This luminous summer scene depicts children bathing in the river Bollin at Styal (Cheshire, England), showcasing the artist's excellent mastery of water reflections and sun-drenched summer shadows.
