The figure of Christ is rendered according to the traditional canons of Byzantine-Russian iconography: the stern and hieratic face, the direct gaze toward the observer, the right hand raised in the blessing gesture and the left supporting the Gospel. On the sides of the halo appear the traditional letters IC XC, the Greek abbreviation for Jesus Christ.

Particularly interesting is the golden background, a characteristic element of Orthodox icon painting, which gives the composition a strong spiritual and symbolic dimension. The Gospel text is written in characters of Slav-ecclesiastical tradition, consistent with the Russian Orthodox milieu.

The work is painted on a wooden panel, according to the traditional technique of Russian icons. The surface shows signs of age, craquelure, small abrasions and wear of the gilding,
