Bambina con cane e paesaggio is an oil painting from 1894 originating in Gibraltar, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Elegant 19th-century European painting depicting a young child seated in a landscape, accompanied by a dog.
The child is portrayed with refined period clothing and a characteristic wide-brimmed hat. Next to him, the dog helps create an intimate and pleasant scene, set in a wooded landscape.
The composition presents an interesting balance between the character of the portrait and that of genre painting. The oval format lends additional elegance to the work and enhances its decorative character.
Particularly interesting is the presence of the antique carved and gilt wooden frame, which harmoniously completes the painting and greatly increases its aesthetic presence.
The surface shows a patina of time and widespread craquelure, features that give the work its authentic antique appearance. There are abrasions, small losses of color and traces of previous interventions, visible in the photographs.
The work is offered in its current condition and represents an interesting opportunity for collectors of 19th-century European painting and for those seeking antique works with a strong decorative character.
Purchased in Gibraltar in the 1970s, private collection
