Andrea Krauß is among the prominent figures in contemporary German painting. A recipient of the AOK Nordost (Berlin/Brandenburg) Art Prize and former fellow at the renowned Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop, she studied at the Braunschweig University of Art. For many years she has devoted herself to painting and today lives and works in her Berlin city-center studio.

The focus of her artistic work is the connection between memory, atmosphere, and landscape. Starting from personal impressions, Andrea Krauß develops pictorial worlds that go beyond the individual and touch universal experiences of nature, space, and transience. Recurring motifs are especially birch trees and other elements of nature, whose quiet presence intertwines with traces of human design and memory.

A hallmark of her work is the multi-layered combination of painting and drawing. In her acrylic paintings, fine relief structures are created through the use of sand, spatula techniques, and integrated lines, giving the works a particular tactile quality and spatial depth.
