Description from the seller
Joaquín Angulo García (Sevilla, 1905-1985)
“Cabeza (Estudio)”, 1941 Female Portrait
Oil on canvas representing an elegant female portrait, work by the Sevillian painter Joaquín Angulo García.
The painting is signed and dated in the lower left corner. On the back of the canvas appears again signed, dated in 1941 and titled in the artist's own handwriting: “Cabeza (Estudio)”.
Interesting youthful work created when the painter was about 36 years old. It stands out especially for the treatment of the face, with careful and classical execution, which contrasts with a looser and more expressive brushstroke in the dress, particularly visible in the color motifs of the garment.
The work retains its period frame, gold, which shows signs and wear typical of its age, visible in the photographs.
