The title refers to Hemera, the ancient Greek personification of day. Emerging against a soft, luminous background, the solitary figure appears both grounded and ethereal, her body rendered in intense shades of cobalt and ultramarine blue.
The simplified silhouette gives the composition a sense of clarity and stillness, while the visible brushwork within the figure introduces movement, texture and emotional depth. Subtle variations of blue travel across the body like shifting light, transforming a minimal form into something vibrant and alive.

Sonia Anton is a Romanian Australian contemporary artist whose practice brings together expressive abstraction, figurative elements and intuitive mark-making.
She grew up in Antibes in the south of France, surrounded by art in her mother’s atelier. Having lived across Europe, Australia and Mexico, she draws inspiration from different cultures, interiors, personal experiences and the emotional language of colour.
Her paintings are created through an instinctive process of layering, allowing shapes, gestures and unexpected details to develop naturally across the canvas. Her work frequently explores identity, femininity, human connection, memory and the tension between what is visible and what remains unspoken.
Now based in Romania, Sonia Anton’s artworks can be found in private collections across Romania, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands.
