LeYack’s Un certain sourire - Hand-signed is a 40 × 40 cm giclée on canvas, in a limited edition of 20 numbered copies, signed by hand in 2022, from France, sold directly by the artist, with a certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
A young woman seated in the back of a deep red cabriolet, head tilted back on the seat, one arm slipped over the door, a knee drawn up. She wears an olive green plaid top. Behind her, the seawall along the promenade, the beach, the blue sea to the horizon. A seagull has perched on the bodywork and does not move.
Eyes speak volumes: she looks at us obliquely, half amused, without straightening up. It is the quiet insolence of Sagan's heroines — twenty years old, a car that may not be hers, a day that leads nowhere, and no intention of apologizing for it. The seagull, the painting's second presence, holds exactly the same pose: perched there, asking for nothing.
The car body red has been glazed in successive layers to a very deep vermillion, almost lacquered; the chrome is picked out with fine brushwork. The sea and the beach, by contrast, are brushed in wide horizontal bands barely modeled, which throws the figure forward. Warm-toned glazes for the skin, hair in long, soft strokes.
