Vintage 18 kt yellow gold ring in a sculptural Scandinavian modernist design with a textured central surface, EU size 51, weight 2.6 g, in excellent condition and without a laboratory report.
Description from the seller
Vintage 18 kt Yellow Gold Modernist Ring – Brutalist Scandinavian Design – Possibly Björn Weckström / Lapponia – EU 51
A striking vintage yellow gold ring featuring a sculptural free-form design strongly influenced by Scandinavian modernist and Brutalist jewellery of the 1960s and 1970s.
The broad upper section has an intentionally irregular, almost molten appearance, with raised polished ridges surrounding a recessed textured surface. Small rounded gold elements are distributed across the centre, giving the ring an organic, geological character reminiscent of rock formations, lunar landscapes and natural erosion.
This type of deliberately uneven surface treatment is closely associated with Nordic modernist jewellery, particularly the work produced in Finland during the late 1960s and 1970s. The design shows similarities to the sculptural gold jewellery of Björn Weckström for Lapponia, although no definitive designer attribution is made without confirmation from the complete hallmarks.
The substantial shoulders taper into a comparatively simple band, allowing the dramatic upper section to remain the principal visual feature. The contrast between polished edges and the textured recessed centre changes considerably depending on the direction of the light.
