Capodimonte - Plate - Porcelain - figures and floral

A richly decorated porcelain plate in the Capodimonte tradition, measuring approximately 30 cm in diameter.

The plate features an exceptionally elaborate raised border with numerous individually modelled and hand-painted figures forming classical, mythological and pastoral scenes. The centre is decorated with a colourful floral bouquet surrounded by delicate pink and grey ornamental motifs, while the shaped rim is finished with gilt highlights.

The underside bears a blue crowned “N” mark, a mark historically associated with Neapolitan/Capodimonte-style porcelain and subsequently used in various forms by other European porcelain manufacturers.

Based on the style of the decoration, extensive figural relief and type of marking, the piece may date from the 19th century or the late 19th/early 20th century. Similar relief-moulded porcelain in the Capodimonte tradition was produced by manufacturers including Doccia / Richard Ginori, as well as other Italian and European factories.

The exact manufacturer, artist and date have not been independently authenticated, therefore the attribution should be regarded as a possibility rather than a definitive identification.

An impressive and highly decorative piece of European porcelain, particularly notable for the unusually extensive figural relief, vivid polychrome decoration and crowned-N mark.
