Description from the seller
Splendid oil painting on canvas by the Palermo master Aurelio Barbalonga (1922–2004), created between September 7 and 8, 1963 in Ancona/Campobasso. The work represents an excellent historical and documentary glimpse of the artist: in fact it is an extemporaneous painting executed live on the occasion of the "2nd Concorso di Pittura Estemporanea - Premio Città di Campobasso", organized by ENAL. The painting depicts the stretch of Via Genova with a view toward the famous Castello Monforte that dominates the Molise city. The back of the canvas is exceptionally rich in autograph and historical details that certify its authenticity. Exact dating 1963; moreover there is the original vintage ENAL competition tag affixed to the back bearing the complete title of the work "Via Genova e Castello" and the selling price of the time (50,000 Lire). A work of Italian post-impressionist flavor, rich in charm and historically impeccable, ideal for collectors of late 20th-century Italy and of regional urban views. In excellent overall condition.
