This piece is a bronze spider ornament made by Yasunosuke, a famous Japanese metalworker. The spider is shaped using realistic techniques. The body is plump and round. The whole body is covered with fine hand-carved simulated down texture, and the details are carved in minute detail. The eight insect legs are segmented and articulated. Each section can be flexed and bent to assume different postures. The craftsmanship is very exquisite. The spider's abdomen bears artist Annosuke's original design.
