Oil painting depicting a rural landscape with a countryside church or parish church, created in the Italian Macchiaiolo or post-Macchiaiolo style of the first half of the twentieth century.
Details of the work
Subject: A countryside landscape with a dirt road in perspective, a figure walking along the edge, and an architectural complex dominated by a bell tower on the left, surrounded by cypresses and fields.
Signature: in the lower left, attributable to an author from the Tuscan or Emilian school of the twentieth century.
Frame: The work is enclosed in a carved and gilded (or gilt) frame in a classical-antique style.
The signature in the image corresponds to that of the Tuscan painter Mario Menichetti (Livorno, 1889 – Milan, 1975), a painter linked to the Livorno school and influenced by the Macchiaioli movement. He is best known for landscapes, views of the Maremma and country scenes, seascapes, and genre scenes, painted predominantly in oil.
