"The light that remained": Fields of color emerge from a dark background. Ochre, blue and light tones meet in an essential composition, where geometry and matter give way to light.
PAOLO CONTIN has been developing a personal artistic path for over twenty-five years, continually evolving. Trained in design and active since 1980 in the fashion world, he transfers to painting a particular sensitivity for color, form and the balance of composition.
Since 1999 he has exhibited his works, and in 2002 he held his first solo exhibition in Padua. This was followed by numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, with presence in Copenhagen, Munich, Paris, Brussels, Istanbul, Buenos Aires and Sydney.
Paolo Contin's artistic path is also documented by the inclusion in the Catalogue of "Arte Mondadori" with related quotations. Over the years his works have also been published in Arte Mondadori magazine and in numerous catalogs and volumes produced for solo shows and major art fairs, some of which were published with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute.
He was also among the founding members of "Tostart", an artistic association formed by the meeting of ten Veneto artists and active up to the Pandemic period.
An eclectic and independent artist, Contin has built over the years a recognizable language, distant from belonging to a single school or trend. His research traverses geometric abstraction, material and gestural painting, alternating rigor and expressive freedom. Lines, fields, geometric shapes and intense color relationships become elements of a vocabulary through which he investigates balance, movement and emotion.
Experimentation also extends to sculpture and wood, with works built through the layering of geometric elements, confirming a research that goes beyond the boundaries of painting alone.
His work continues to evolve today without preset formulas: every work arises from the will to preserve freedom, identity and expressive authenticity.
