B. Merli - Table lamp - Softpaste porcelain

an exquisite and refined vintage table lamp in the finest Capodimonte porcelain, the work of the renowned sculptor Bruno Merli. The sculptural base depicts with extraordinary realism and tenderness the "Maternity": a mother in finely draped classical attire holding her newborn close, seated beside a richly decorated cradle. The piece is made in matte biscuit porcelain and polychrome with delicate pastel tones hand-painted, the master's preferred technique to confer lifelike quality and grace to the faces. The piece is fully authenticated and signed: the signature is incised in the porcelain "B. Merli" on the back of the sculptural group. Official factory mark with Bourbon Crown and a blue "N" impressed on the side. A gilded metal plaque on the front of the base bearing the inscription "B. Merli". Original gold label "Made in Italy" under the base. The sculpture rests on its original shaped and polished wooden base in mahogany color. It is completed by a large beige fabric lampshade, pleated, with elegant gold fringe. The electrical system is original, tested, and fully functional. Splendid piece, with some slight marks on the lampshade.
