Scuola inglese (XIX) - Paesaggio

This is a wonderful early 19th-century landscape, English school, with an indecipherable signature in the bottom left (see photo). It depicts a landscape and is from the early Romantic period; it probably reflects the attention given by Constable to English rural landscapes in the early 19th century.

Undoubtedly it is a work of high quality, and the photographs do not do full justice to the beauty and the intensity of the colors of this beautiful landscape, which matches another of equal size that is present in this auction. Here, unlike in the other landscape, we are for certain aspects still in a late 18th-century style, given the presence of the tower and the view with the tree on the right.

The dimensions of the work, which is an oil on canvas characterized by a dense craquelure, are 101 cm by 75 cm including the frame, while 76 cm by 50 cm without the frame.

The work does not require restoration, and the frame is original and dates from the 19th century.
