Description from the seller

Egon Schiele: "Seated woman with raised knee, 1917”.

Signed in the plate.

Authorized color offset litho, produced on premium matte (non-reflective) stock and with high color intensity.

Condition: the work is in excellent condition.

Egon Schiele (1890-1918) was one of the most radical figures of Austrian Expressionism.
A protegé of Gustav Klimt, he developed a very personal visual language characterized by angular lines, distorted anatomy, raw eroticism and an unwavering psychological intensity. His work decisively broke with academic ideals of beauty and instead focused on vulnerability, sexuality and existential tension.

Despite his short life, cut short by the Spanish flu at just 28, Schiele produced an extraordinary amount of drawings, watercolors and paintings that have profoundly shaped modern figurative art.

In the art market Schiele's works are among the most coveted from the early 20th century. Large oil paintings regularly fetch tens of millions of euros at auction, while works on paper, especially signed, well-preserved drawings and watercolor works, are also highly valued and often reach seven-figure prices. His scarcity, historical importance and unmistakable style form the basis for a consistently strong and resilient market demand.

This artwork shows a woman in a seated pose, using a limited color palette and sharp lines. Egon Schiele's wife Edith served as the model for this work.
The original is housed in the National Gallery in Prague. It is also known under the German title "Sitzende Frau mit angezogenem Knie".

Never framed and kept in a dark archival storage between protective acid-free paper.
The shown photos are part of the description.
