Barca sulla spiaggia, an oil painting by Joan Massanet from the 19th century, Spain, 46 × 32 cm, requires restoration, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Joan Massanet (1899-1969)
Seascape with boats, Oil on canvas, Unframed (with an autograph certificate of authenticity by the artist’s son on the back), 46 x 32 cm.
Fascinating oil painting on canvas by the Catalan artist Joan Massanet, depicting a evocative seascape of the Costa Brava with a pier, boats stranded on the shore, and a cloudy sky in intense tones. On the back of the canvas there are autograph inscriptions and a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist’s son, Joan R. Massanet i Serra, as well as the stamps of Galeria Massanet of La Escala.
Please note that the work requires conservation-restoration work: the painting surface shows widespread and evident cracks (craquelure), small losses or detachments of color (especially in the sky and in the lower left area), and light losses of the paint layer, requiring the intervention of a professional restorer for consolidation and cleaning.
The frame visible in the photo is included in the lot as a pure gift from me and is not part of the sale; it does not determine the value and, due to its delicacy, is not insured. Therefore, any defects already present on the frame are not reported, and any damage to it during transport will not be considered for claims or returns. The wall-mounting system may also be removed. Glass often breaks during transport and can damage the work. They can be removed upon request at no additional cost. Please let me know if you prefer that the work be shipped without it; otherwise I cannot take responsibility.
Notes on shipping and customs
The item ships from Geneva, Switzerland. For this reason, delivery times to European Union countries may be slightly longer than usual due to standard customs procedures.
If the package is returned for an incorrect address, unclaimed, or duties unpaid, the buyer must pay for a second shipment and cover the return costs.
I remind you that, since Switzerland lies outside the EU customs area, import taxes, local VAT, and customs duties are the buyer’s responsibility and will be collected by your country’s authorities at delivery. I advise you to inform yourself in advance to avoid surprises. Alternatively, if possible, pickup in person in Geneva is always my preferred option and strongly recommended, as it eliminates shipping costs and ensures maximum safety for the artwork. If shipment is chosen, I will do my best to package the painting to protect it during transit.
