Decorative silver-plated brass swan from Germany, dating to ca. 1950–1960, about 30 cm long, 23 cm high and 12 cm wide, weighing 3.4 kg, with movable wings and a removable metal grid insert.
Description from the seller
Decorative swan made of silver-plated brass, elaborately sculpted and with detailed feather decoration on the body, neck, and wings.
Condition: Good used condition with age-related signs of wear. The silvering shows localized wear and a naturally developed patina, causing parts of the warmer brass tone to become visible. The movable wings can be opened. Please note the photos as part of the condition description.
Age: Probably the second half of the 20th century.
Material: Brass, silver-plated; removable metal mesh insert.
Origin: Not clearly ascertainable. No manufacturer or origin mark. On the underside there is only the stamped number “7” and a further punch or mark, which could not yet be clearly identified. Both markings are documented in the detail photos.
Size: approx. 30 cm in length. Height 23 cm and width 12 cm
Colors: Silver-colored with dark antique patina and areas of partially translucent brass-colored base tone.
Particularly appealing is the fold-open construction: The two wings can be opened to the sides to reveal the interior of the swan’s body. Inside is a removable metal mesh insert. The item is likely intended as a decorative vessel or table accessory.
The sculpted plumage, the curved neck, and the movable wings give the piece an exceptionally decorative effect.
