Description from the seller
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
A multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of images in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series dedicated to shop display mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated using current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recomposed by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in art history through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and today’s visual culture. This approach enables a renewed vision of the painting, positioned at the crossroads between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated rear hanger. Printed on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with a flexible UV- and moisture-resistant coating, ensuring excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the band FRENZY.
