Description from the seller
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
David Law
Photographer — Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first came to prominence with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of visual micro-fragments generated using current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in the history of art through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and today’s visual culture. This approach yields a renewed vision of the painting, located at the boundary between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated back mounting. Printed on bright white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops a writer’s and musician’s career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
