Fifteen Römer wine glasses in green and colorless crystal with elaborately faceted baluster stems and wine-leaf decor, circa 1900–1910, of Theresienthal style, height 19 cm, bowl diameter 8 cm, origin Germany, good used condition with minor wear and two glasses showing small chips at the foot rim that are barely visible when displayed.
Description from the seller
15 Roman-style wine glasses – green & colorless crystal glass – grapevine decor – Theresienthal-type
Description
For sale is an exceptional consignment of 15 decorative Roman-style wine glasses in a historicist rendition.
The ensemble consists of 11 fully green glasses and 4 glasses with a colorless bowl and green stem and foot.
Particularly characteristic are the elaborately faceted baluster stems made of dark green glass with applied rosette knobs and profiled rings. The bowls are ringed with a fine matte grapevine, grape, and tendril decor.
The design clearly aligns with the classic German Roman glasses of Historicism and shows strong stylistic similarities to historical works of the Kristallglasmanufaktur Theresienthal. Since there is no maker’s mark, Theresienthal is mentioned here only as an attribution or stylistic comparison.
The glasses appear handcrafted; the stem, foot, and the decorative glass inlays display the workmanship typical of this elaborate Roman form.
Good age-appropriate condition. 13 glasses without visible damage. Two glasses each show a small chip at the underside of the base rim. These spots are not visible or barely visible when displayed and do not impair the overall decorative effect. Please consult the detail photos.
