Watch from a private collection; I have no history of the last servicing, but it is currently working.

Chronometer: At the time this watch was made (early 20th century), the word "Chronomètre" engraved on the dial was not just marketing. It meant the watch had been built to high precision standards, using a higher-pivot lever escapement (as seen in the photos of the movement) instead of the cheaper and more common cylinder escapements of the era. The Brand "R&G": At the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, the pocket watch market was filled with independent Swiss brands, assemblers (établisseurs) brands, and brands registered by local retailers or prestigious importers (very common in Portugal and France). The "R&G" represents the initials of the makers or distributors who imported the Swiss rough movements (ébauches) and customized the dial for sale on the European market.2

The Dial Type "Military" or "Railway": The dial design offers fascinating clues about its period:
Double Numeration (12h / 24h): The dial has the main numbers 1 to 12 in black, and just below, a second scale of 13 to 24 in red.
Context: This setup became extremely popular during and just after World War I (1914–1918). The transition to the 24-hour time system was widely adopted by European military forces and railway companies to avoid confusion between morning (AM) and afternoon (PM) hours on travel maps and strategic communications.
