Various authors. A Simple History of Napoleon, based on the notes and memoirs of Messrs. Lascases, de Ségur, Fain, Norvins, Tissot, Bignon, and other historians of the Empire. Illustrated with steel engravings after the designs of V. Adam. Paris, Bethune and Plon – H. Delloye, 1840. 4 volumes in 2 octavo volumes of 192-192pp. and 192-190pp., bound in half brown calfskin of the period, smooth spines ornamented with gilt tools and romantic birds, gilt title, gilt numbering of the volumes, a small curiosity: the number 1 is upside down, heads and tails of spines slightly rubbed, mainly the tail of the second volume, joints slightly rubbed, boards of black percaline very slightly embossed, flyleaves of mineral paper in brown, beige and white, page edges mineral brown, beige and white, green bookmark in each volume, very beautiful illustrations outside the text, a few scattered foxings, interior fresh, a good and handsome copy.
