Description
Elegant porcelain amphora vase from the Meissen porcelain manufactory, model P 44.
The vase, approximately 25 cm tall, features a classical amphora form with flared rim, two elaborately designed volute handles, and a square base. Particularly decorative are the sculpted handles with gilded ornaments.
The body is decorated with a finely executed polychrome bouquet of flowers and additional small floral motifs. Numerous details, including the rim, handles, neck, foot and base, are highlighted with gold ornamentation.
On the underside is the underglaze-blue Meissen sword mark as well as the impressed model number P 44.
Condition:
Very good, age-appropriate condition. No chips or cracks of a later origin are detectable and, to the best of our knowledge, no restorations. At the upper gold rim there is a tiny, manufacturing-related irregularity that is barely noticeable to the naked eye. On the reverse side there is also a very small, needle-prick-like indentation in the porcelain, apparently originating from the manufacturing process. In the area of the base mark there are two small indentations that are feelable but visually hardly perceptible. The mentioned spots are documented in the detail photos.
