Sericho Pallasite (main group) - Beautiful Polished Slice - 45 g

A 45 g slice of Sericho, an officially classified pallasite from the Isiolo region of Kenya. The cut surface displays the characteristic pallasitic texture of translucent olivine crystals embedded in a continuous Fe-Ni metallic matrix, producing a strong contrast between the silicate and metallic phases.

Sericho contains approximately 70 areal% olivine, with individual grains typically 0.5–1 cm across and ranging from gemmy green to orange. The metal is dominated by kamacite surrounding the olivine, with areas of plessite and accessory troilite, schreibersite and chromite. Olivine has a fayalite content of Fa₁₂.₃ ± 0.₁.

With approximately 2.8 tonnes recorded from the original strewn field, Sericho is one of the larger pallasite finds of recent decades.
