Antique hand-carved oak flowers ornament, circa 1960, measuring 54 cm high, 10 cm wide and 3 cm deep, originating from Bavaria, Germany, in historicising Louis XVI neobaroque style.
Description from the seller
Large antique hand-carved oak floral ornament / furniture crown – about 1960 – 54 cm
A beautifully and richly executed antique furniture ornament carved from oak, dating from the 20th century.
The ornament is fashioned as a lush vertical composition of flowers, leaves and fruits. At the center is a large flower rosette, beneath which sits a beautifully three-dimensionally carved rose with smaller flowers and fruits. The upper part is also richly carved and forms a decorative crown.
The woodcarving is notably deeply executed, with the individual petals, veins and curved leaves nicely three-dimensionally rendered. The visible grain, signs of wear and the warm aged patina give the piece a lot of character.
It was probably originally part of a richly decorated piece of furniture, mirror, cabinet crown or interior paneling.
Dating: circa 1960
Origin: Germany
Material: presumably solid oak
Length: circa 54 cm
Style: historicist / Louis XVI neobaroque influence
In a handsome authentic condition with age- and wear-related signs appropriate to its age.
