The refined painting presented here constitutes a happy testament to the landscape capriccio, a genre that, in the Veneto of the eighteenth century, finds one of its most poetic seasons. The composition unfolds a cultivated ideal view, where Neoclassical-matrix strict symmetry dialogues with a lyrical sensibility. The visual fulcrum is occupied by an elegant circular temple—the monottero—that rises from a fountain, scenographically paired with a celebratory equestrian monument. The elegant monumental quality of the architecture is skilfully humanized by the insertion of figures, wearing period costumes: a patrician couple strolling and a reflective figure with the characteristic Venetian tricorne. In the background, the mountain range evokes the Venetian Prealps, recalling the famous villas of delight of the Serenissima.

The work is distinguished by the use of oil on paper, a support historically favored by Venetian masters, capable of fixing with immediacy the luminous intuition, giving the drawing a fresh, vibrant feel and a swift touch.

The palette, played on warm ochre tones, dusty greens, and clear blues, radiates a diffused, atmospheric light. The observer almost perceives the sun-warmed stone and the coolness emanating from the water mirrors. The entire scene is permeated by a silent musicality: one can sense the soft murmur of the fountain and the rustle of garments on the gravel, immersed in an Arcadian atmosphere suspended, a mirror of an elegant world refined in its twilight.

The painting preserves its structural stability thanks to the mounting of the original paper on cardboard. The painted surface presents a noble, historical patina that testifies to its authenticity and era, preserving intact a delicate chromatic softness.

The painting comes from a private collection from Emilia.
It was restored in the last century.
