German Double Inkwell Desk Stand, brass, dating to circa 1920–1930, in good used condition with minor signs of aging and blemishes.
Description from the seller
A striking German Art Deco brass desk stand dating from circa 1920s–1930s.
The architectural stepped design is characteristic of the Art Deco period, with strong geometric lines and a symmetrical arrangement. The raised rear section incorporates two circular inkwell compartments, each protected by its own hinged square lid.
The front is formed with a series of stepped horizontal ribs surrounding a central recessed pen rest. Particularly attractive is the textured decoration within the pen rest, providing a decorative contrast to the otherwise smooth brass surfaces.
The piece is marked “Geschützt Déposé”, indicating a registered or protected design and supporting its German origin.
The substantial rectangular base is raised slightly on integral feet, giving the piece a particularly strong architectural appearance.
A handsome and highly decorative period desk accessory, suitable for an Art Deco interior, collector’s cabinet or traditional writing desk.
