The two pieces feature a particularly rich decoration of flowers applied in relief, multicolored foliage, and gilding. The small white flowers with radiating petals, their gilded centers, the molded roses, the foliage, and the fine gilded scrolls constitute a decorative vocabulary characteristic of luxuriously adorned Parisian porcelains of the 19th century.

The decoration, of the “snowball” type, evokes in particular Jacob Petit’s production, famous for its Parisian porcelains with abundant relief flowers, polychromy, and gilding.

No clearly identifiable maker’s mark is visible on the underside of either piece. The attribution is therefore offered as “Jacob Petit type” rather than as a definite attribution to the manufactory.

Both boxes show significant wear to the gilding and polychromy, as well as some losses and chips on the relief elements, visible in the photographs.

Very carefully packaged

Les deux pièces présentent un décor particulièrement riche de fleurs appliquées en relief, de feuillages polychromes et de dorure. Les petites fleurs blanches à pétales rayonnants, leurs centres dorés, les roses modelées, les feuillages et les fins rinceaux dorés constituent un vocabulaire décoratif caractéristique des porcelaines parisiennes luxueusement ornées du XIXe siècle.

Le décor, de type « boule de neige », évoque notamment la production de Jacob Petit, célèbre pour ses porcelaines parisiennes à profusion de fleurs en relief, de polychromie et de dorure.

Aucune marque de fabricant clairement identifiable n’est visible sous les deux pièces. L’attribution est donc proposée comme “type Jacob Petit” et non comme une attribution certaine à la manufacture.

Les deux boîtes présentent une usure importante de la dorure et de la polychromie ainsi que quelques manques et éclats aux éléments en relief, visibles sur les photographies.
