Description from the seller

Exceptional antique French crystal decanter by the historic Montcenis crystalworks, dating from the early 19th century.
This remarkable piece features a tall, beautifully architectural silhouette, with a substantial elongated body rising towards a finely moulded neck and elegantly curved pouring spout. A generous applied loop handle enhances its sculptural proportions, while the magnificent solid crystal stopper is decorated with bold, deeply cut flat-sides facets.
The exceptionally thick body is ornamented with broad polished panels and deep vertical cuts, creating striking optical reflections and a magnificent play of light. Its impressive weight, exceptional clarity and powerful geometric decoration beautifully demonstrate the outstanding craftsmanship associated with early Montcenis crystal.
The decanter remains in excellent antique condition, particularly remarkable considering its considerable age. Some light surface marks, fine scratches, natural inclusions and expected wear beneath the base may be present. These discreet traces of time are entirely consistent with its age and do not detract from its beauty or decorative impact.
A rare and highly collectible example of historic French crystal, combining monumental proportions, exceptional brilliance and refined early 19th-century craftsmanship. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
