AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

TONIGHT IS MINE is a painting by Flavia Delgado that combines Pop Art aesthetics with comic-book graphics and retro advertising from the 50s and 60s. The scene features a woman with a martini glass, accompanied by a thought bubble introducing the phrase “Tonight is mine,” lending the work a narrative, ironic, and confident character.

The composition uses bold black outlines, flat, contrasted colors, and an intense blend of emerald green, turquoise blue, yellow, and red. The female figure, the cocktail, and the speech-bubble cue directly to the visual language of panels and mid-20th-century popular culture.

With clear affinities to Roy Lichtenstein’s Pop Art, vintage advertising illustration, and the pin-up aesthetic, Tonight is Mine reinterprets these codes from a contemporary perspective, turning a nightlife leisure scene into a statement of independence and personal enjoyment. An especially attractive work for collectors of contemporary pop art, comics, retro poster art, pin-up, and cocktail culture.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
