Goyard – Antique travel suitcase in Goyardine canvas – France – Early 20th century
Description
Antique Goyard travel suitcase, made in the characteristic Goyardine canvas with its emblematic chevron motif.
The piece bears various E. Goyard marks visible on the canvas. It features a rigid structure with wooden reinforcements, metal hardware, clasps marked “SURETÉ” and a leather handle.
In the front, the initials “J.C.A.” are painted in red, a detail characteristic of personalized travel suitcases from the period.
The interior preserves its original light-toned textile lining, as well as the internal securing straps.
Approximate measurements:
60.5 × 38 × 19.5 cm.
Condition:
Good overall condition considering its age and use. It shows normal signs of time: wear and superficial losses in some areas of the Goyardine canvas, marks and scuffs on the wooden reinforcements, patina on the hardware and wear on the leather handle.
