The Spirit of the 19th Century

Pair of marine paintings with boats. Oil on panel in a beautiful antique frame from the early 1800s, signed as in the photo. On the back they recount the history of these two panels. This is a gift made by Claude Francoise Nicol Laplanch, Consul General of France in Bologna, and it describes verbatim to his good friend, the esteemed surgeon Luigi Epifanio Gardella. Dated February 18, 1815. Signed at the bottom right.

DIMENSIONS: 13 cm by 10 cm each painting; including the frame, 20 by 16 cm.
