Vintage 1960s-1970s cast iron coal or log holder, a robust freestanding log cradle with a curved top handle, dimensions 45 cm high by 49 cm wide by 30 cm deep, in good used condition with signs of age.
Description from the seller
Robust vintage wrought-iron firewood cradle/holder, characterized by sturdy construction and several decorative details.
The structure features a broad, curved top handle, particularly interesting in the central area, where the iron is worked to create a refined intertwined and twisted decorative pattern.
The surface intended to hold the wood consists of a shaped sheet metal, slightly curved in a cradle-like form, a functional solution that allows the logs to be held comfortably, keeping them raised off the ground.
The side rails are made from iron elements arranged horizontally and vertically.
The four feet ending in scrolls are also particularly decorative, giving stability to the structure.
Period: 1960s–1970s
Thanks to its generous dimensions and a weight of about 5 kg, the firewood portalegna is stable and suitable for use beside fireplaces and stoves, but can also serve as an interesting decorative addition for chalets, mountain houses, taverns, rustic environments, country or vintage furnishings.
Dimensions
Overall height: 45 cm
Overall width: 49 cm
Depth: 30 cm
Handle height above the shelf: about 37 cm
Shelf width: 48.5 cm
Shelf depth: 30 cm.
Good general condition, with normal signs of use and patina on the iron surface, as detailed in the photos.
