Mechelen 1887 – Wilrijk 1967. Late Impressionist painter of river landscapes, cityscapes, and still lifes. Etcher. Education at the Academies of Mechelen and Brussels. Lived in Paris from 1923 to 1924 and there met M. Utrillo. Travels through France, Spain and the Netherlands. Works in Brittany and in Provence. His subjects are depicted in a subdued manner; drawing is reduced to the essence and the palette is dominated by gray tones. Teacher at the Academy of Antwerp. His work is in the Museum of Antwerp.
