Valencian vintage botijo made of cork and brass, estimated period 1940–1960, with a cylindrical cork body reinforced by brass bands.
Description from the seller
Old cork botijo from Sagunto (Valencia), dated 1953, made of cork and brass.
A traditional piece of Valencian popular craft, formerly used as a container to transport and store water.
It features a cylindrical body of cork from the cork oak, reinforced and decorated with brass bands engraved with floral and vegetal motifs.
It retains its original characteristic elements: four small brass feet, upper handles, carrying ring, chains, and ornamental metal pieces. At the top it presents the closing and pouring elements typical of this type of vessel.
It shows patina and signs of use and age consistent with its age, including surface oxidation and wear of the brass, small losses or irregularities in the cork and marks from use. The photographs are part of the description and show its condition.
A singular piece of Spanish popular craftsmanship from the first half of the 20th century, especially notable for preserving the original decoration, the complete structure, and a personalized dated inscription.
