Laura Ambrosi - Guarda in su

Laura Ambrosi, 1959, lives and works in Turin. She begins to express her art in diverse artistic areas: painting, design, sculpture, but her preference concerns luminous installations in methacrylate and neon. She is active in an artistic context that tests the language of sculpture, pushing it toward a design idea. The artist is also involved in Art Actions to bring the works closer to alternative places, outside galleries and officially assigned spaces, to communicate new languages, feelings and sensitivities all feminine in tone.
She is present in personal and collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

The female figure is depicted seated, gathered in a closed and introspective posture. The body, even in its nudity, does not appear exposed: it is rather folded in on itself, as in a moment of suspension and inner listening. The face, turned upward, introduces an element of openness in contrast with the body's closure. The gaze, ideally, crosses the boundaries of the represented space and suggests a search: looking up as a gesture of hope, of waiting, of desire or trust in what is possible. The use of pencils and charcoal defines the figure through an essential, tactile, and at times incisive sign, while the acrylic color, laid on with delicacy, creates a warm and uniform tone that envelops the body and enhances its emotional dimension. The contrast between the darker areas and those left lighter helps give depth to the composition.

The work thus relates closure and openness, fragility and strength, solitude and hope. The gathered body belongs to the present; the face turned upward seems to seek something beyond the visible.
