I have learned to exist in two registers at once - the solid and the dissolving, the flesh and the outline drawn in white light. My hair has gone the colour of forgetting, my face emptied of expression so that something truer might remain. Behind me, or perhaps within me, the world blooms in orange and blush and deep unanswered red, its edges pixelating into questions I no longer need to ask. The dark dress holds me like a quiet decision. I am both the painted and the imagined, standing still while everything luminous bleeds through.
