Antun Kovatic (1940) - Snowy landscape in the moonlight

An evocative winter landscape created by the painter Kovatic, characterised by typical elements of naïf painting.
The composition depicts a small village surrounded by snow, with characteristic dwellings with heavily snow covered roofs, bare, twisted trees, and a human figure in the foreground, the sky, crossed by clouds and illuminated by the moon, creates a fairytale and evocative atmosphere.
Particularly interesting are the bright and contrasting colors, with the blue of the snow and sky contrasting with the warm tones of the houses and the red of the trees, the perspective and the deliberately simplified representation of forms give the work the characteristic language of naïf art.
