Chondrites are among the oldest rocks in our solar system: they contain chondrules, small melted spheres that formed about 4.56 billion years ago in the protoplanetary nebula from which Earth also formed. Thus, this fragment is older than our own planet.
The meteorite displays a naturally weathered surface with local remnants of the fusion crust that formed during its fiery passage through the atmosphere.
