Our planet is not a football: the artwork tackles the issue of climate change, sending a clear message: "Planet Earth is not a playground ball." This contemporary sculpture, created by the artist duo Francioni Mastromarino, depicts a soccer ball with relief continents, transformed into a globe with small cracks. A symbolic interpretation that fuses two images: the Earth, with the hexagons and pentagons characteristic of a soccer ball, all patinated with a rust effect thanks to iron powder embedded in the ceramic plaster.

The authors denounce the disdainful attitude toward climate accords, precisely now, on the occasion of the World Cup hosted in part by the United States, highlighting the risk of treating climate change and the preservation of our only planet with superficiality as if it were a game. The materials used reflect a concrete commitment to the environment. Eco-sustainable mortars, inspired by bioarchitecture, are mixed with rice husk, a by-product of the rice milling that Francioni Mastromarino has long used in their works, and when mixed with the mortars they ensure the durability of the piece. This choice not only reduces environmental impact but also integrates the message of the work: respect for the planet must start from even the smallest details.

The sculpture is the result of the synergy of two artists, Francioni and Mastromarino, a duo of art and love who have been working together for about 20 years in their Pietrasanta studio in Tuscany.

The chosen materials minimize the pollutant percentage, just as the selection of cardboard scraps as filling for shipping minimizes waste. The sculpture is carefully packaged in a very sturdy box and shipped with express courier. All of our collectors are very satisfied with the sturdiness of our packaging.
