A pair of Romanian studio art glass objects, a vase and a sculptural bowl with metal applications, attributed to Filip Ravert, in excellent condition with patinated metal and cobalt-blue/yellow glass, dating from 1980–1990.
Description from the seller
Filip Ravert (attributed) – Romanian Studio Art Glass – Sculptural Vase and Bowl with Metal Applications – 2 pieces
Description
A distinctive pair of Romanian studio art glass objects, attributed to Filip Ravert, comprising a tall vase and a sculptural bowl.
Both pieces combine hand-shaped coloured glass with elaborate sculptural metal applications. This unusual combination of glass and expressive, organically modelled metalwork is characteristic of works associated with Filip Ravert.
The vase is made from translucent glass with striking cobalt-blue and yellow inclusions. Its elongated body is surrounded by a dark patinated metal structure, including sculptural leaf-like elements and an organically formed metal band wrapping around the glass.
The second piece is a softly modelled pale pink glass bowl with an elaborate sculptural metal mount integrated into the form. The flowing glass contrasts beautifully with the dark, textured and naturally patinated metalwork.
Attribution
The works are unsigned and unmarked and are therefore offered as attributed to Filip Ravert.
Filip Ravert is known on the international art market as a Romanian glass artist and is associated in art-market references with Bucharest and Romanian studio glass production during the second half of the 20th century.
The attribution of the present pieces is based on their close stylistic and technical relationship with works associated with Ravert, particularly the distinctive combination of coloured glass with sculptural applied metalwork and organic, biomorphic decorative elements.
Works by Ravert, as well as works attributed to him, have appeared at international auctions and on the international decorative-arts market.
As neither of the present pieces bears a visible signature or maker's mark, the attribution is deliberately stated with caution.
Dimensions
Vase: approx. 23 cm high
Bowl: approx. 17 cm diameter × 7 cm high
Condition
Very good vintage condition. The metal elements display oxidation and an attractive natural patina. The glass shows minor surface traces and wear.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description.
