Ornate Vintage Neo-Rococo Brass Jewelry / Trinket Box - Cherub & Floral Relief (c. 1950)
A highly decorative and beautifully crafted vintage jewelry box (trinket box) made of solid cast brass.
This piece features a rich, heavy design heavily inspired by the Neo-Rococo and Baroque styles, dating back to the mid-20th century (circa 1940s–1960s) .
Design Details:
* **The Lid:** Stunningly embossed in high-relief with large blooming chrysanthemums, surrounded by intricate scrolling vines and framed within a geometric zig-zag border.
* **The Body:** The front and rear panels showcase a detailed central motif of a winged cherub (putto) face flanked by elegant acanthus scrolls. The side panels feature a classic renaissance-style urn/urn pot adorned with stylized marine dolphin corner details.
* **The Interior:** The inside of the hinged lid is exquisitely finished with a stamped diagonal diamond (checkerboard) pattern interspersed with four-lobed clover motifs on a stippled background. The lower compartment retains its original deep burgundy/red velvet lining, designed to protect delicate valuables from scratching.
* **Structure:** The box stands on four integrated bracket feet and functions flawlessly with two robust, built-in hinge pins at the back.
Excellent vintage condition with a beautiful authentic patina.
The natural dark oxidation in the deeper recesses creates a wonderful three-dimensional contrast with the warm, golden-polished highlights of the brass.
The original velvet lining shows light, natural age-appropriate wear but remains intact and clean. No cracks, repairs, or structural defects.
