This splendid Chinoiserie-style chest of drawers combines a flame-bamboo structure (or “tortoiseshell”) with hand-painted black lacquered surfaces featuring multicolored floral motifs.

Details: It features three drawers with lacquered panels, oriental-style floral details painted on, and coordinating wooden or bamboo handles.
Materials: Shaped structural bamboo canes and tops with a protective lacquer finish.
Presumably the back has undergone restoration with wood not in keeping with the production period.
