An impressive mid-20th-century Art Déco/Vintage terracotta bust depicting the head of Jesus Christ with a deeply expressive and meditative facial feature. The statue is expertly crafted from high-fired terracotta with a smooth, warm wood-toned patina, mounted on a solid dark green marble base.
Signatures & Markings
Signature: Inscribed with artist signature "H. Mertens" at the lower back edge.
Stamp/Markings: Stamped "MADE IN BELGIUM" and numbered "2242" on the reverse.
